Review: Café Dali

In the current situation, it will be a while till eating out will be “normal” again, but we still crave the delicious gourmet dishes we all used to have. For all those who, like me, are missing their pasta outings, Café Dali has come up with a great new concept of letting us have amazing pasta dishes in the comfort of our homes. They make artisan handmade and hand-cut pastas and organic sauces and deliver these to your house for you to cook them and have them fresh. This concept lets you customize your pastas- so you can cook them to your preference, add as much or add less sauce you want, and finish the dish off with your preferred add-ons.

I recently tried some of their products and have definitely become a regular customer. Their packaging was neat and simple- the pastas came wrapped in butter paper, placed in cardboard boxes, while the sauces were sent in cute glass jars. All the items had clear and straightforward instructions on how to store, cook and serve the products, and the cooking process was so easy that even a novice can follow to create an amazing dish.

There is something about fresh pasta that packaged pasta can never mimic. And their classic herb tagliatelle was a pure delight. The pasta had a great texture and the herbs infused in the pasta added a lovely flavor. I cooked the pasta al dente, and mixed it in with each of the two sauces, and it tasted delicious!

I also tried their ravioli, which I would highly recommend! Their Two Cheese Ravioli con Sundried Pesto had a generous filling of ricotta, parmesan and sundried tomatoes, seasoned with a hint of garlic, and was packed full of flavor. I had this ravioli with their Alfredo Sun Dried Tomatoes which was their take on a classic white sauce that they had enhanced with sundried tomatoes, garlic and herbs. The flavor in the filling of the ravioli was reinforced by the sauce, which was creamy and thick without being overtly rich.

The Ravioli Di Spinaci had a filling of spinach, ricotta and garlic, seasoned with lemon zest, which was their little stroke of genius. The spinach in the filling was still vibrant and the ricotta added a nice creaminess, but the additional zing the ravioli got from the lemon zest was mind blowing. The addition of the lemon zest made the dish feel much lighter on the palate. The pasta dough itself also had spinach puree in it to give it a lovely green color. I tried this ravioli with their Parma Rosa di Vodka sauce, it was a match made in heaven. The sauce was made with ripened Italian tomatoes and a dash of vodka, and was just adequately spicy to suit our palates.

They have a range of interesting pasta options available on their menu – from Tricolor Farfalle to White Truffle Tagliolini, and they will also update their menu every month. What I also liked is the fact that we can order the sauces or the pasta separately. So, if you want to make the sauce on my own but feel like ordering in the fresh pasta, you can go for just that.

Overall, I think the concept is superb, and given the current situation, it also is a very hygienic way to go about things. But the primary factor that has driven me to become their regular customer is how amazing their products taste!

It’s really simple to place an order – just DM them on cafedali.in on Insta, or WhatsApp your orders on 9818888858.
