I went with the non-veg meal in which I chose the Exotic Fruit Bowl, Chicken Teriyaki, and Green Coffee Mojito. The meal box came really nicely packed in a carton, with each dish separately packed in boxes. The fruit bowl had fresh, crunchy and juicy fruits- pineapple, apple, kiwi, Californian grapes, papaya & banana, along with caramelized walnuts for texture. The dressing served with the bowl was tangy and sweet and tasted amazing. The chicken teriyaki had juicy pieces of slow-cooked chicken with a hint of basil, with a robust teriyaki sauce, served with organic brown rice and sautéed vegetables. The green coffee mojito had a lovely flavor of green coffee beans blended with lemon, honey and mint leaves.

I also ordered two appetizers- Hummus Chipper and Grilled Chicken Breast. The hummus chipper had low fat freshly blended hummus which was smooth and creamy with a nice flavor of garlic and paprika, served with in-house baked whole-wheat pita chips. The chicken breast dish can be customized with one of three marinations- tandoori, peri peri, or pesto. I went with the pesto marination, and the chicken was really moist as it had been slow cooked for 4 hours, and was coated with a pesto sauce, but the sauce could have had a bit more flavor.nutriobox2Overall, a great place to try if you’re looking for some tasty but healthy options.

Review: Mamagoto – Bowl Manifesto

Review: Mamagoto – Bowl Manifesto

Mamagoto is one of our go-to places for delicious Asian food, and when we heard about their new Bowl Manifesto menu, we had to check it out. This new menu has dishes ranging from an aromatic rice meal with tofu or fish, to a noodle bowl with chicken and pork, and even some delicious baos.mamagoto1Before trying out these bowl meals, we started off with a starter from their regular menu- the Chicken Basil Cups, which had finely chopped, juicy chicken, tossed in basil, bird’s eye chili, and crushed pepper to give it an amazing flavor profile. The chicken came with some lettuce leaves shaped like cups, and a tangy dipping sauce. The combination of the juicy chicken with the crunchy and fresh lettuce, dunked in the well-balanced sauce, made for a delicious mouthful. This dish is a must-try here.mamagoto2Next, we went with the Unbelievabao, which had soft and spongy bao, with a filling of well-cooked pork coated with their secret spice mix, along with cucumber and spring onions. The bao did require the honey chili sauce served alongside to provide it some moistness, but it was a good dish.

We loved our next dish- In Da (Canton) House, that had slow-cooked chicken in a flavorsome and aromatic broth with chives, pepper, and wine, and Cantonese style vegetables cooked perfectly al dente, along with udon noodles. The sauce had a mild but well-defined flavor, and they also served hot sauce on the side for those who like their sauce to be spicier.mamagoto3Along with these delicious dishes, we also had a couple of mocktails- the Lemon Zest and Mint Lemonade was nice and refreshing, but we would really recommend the Kiwi and Mint Collins that had freshly muddled kiwi with mint and lime, topped with soda.

We rounded off the meal with a Banoffee Pie served in a jar, with a nice crushed cookie base, layered with a thick, sticky toffee sauce which had just the right amount of sweetness, topped with light whipped cream, banana slices, and chocolate shavings.mamagoto4Overall, the bowls offer some interesting hearty, shareable meal options.

Review: The Bing’s

Review: The Bing’s

The Bing’s is a delivery place offering delicious pizzas, burgers, and sandwiches that opens its kitchens at 3 p.m. and delivers up until 3 a.m.

We ordered the White Rhino Pizza which had a super thin and crispy base coated with garlic alfredo sauce, rather than the regular tomato sauce, and was topped with sundried tomatoes, gooey mozzarella, creamy goats cheese for that saline kick, and pine nuts for crunch. This pizza was absolutely delicious, and should certainly be tried.

We also enjoyed Mushrooma, a crispy garlic toast topped with button mushrooms mash mixed with gooey cheesy and seasoned with thyme. The mushroom had a lovely soft texture and an amazing flavor.thebings1They also have an extensive sandwich menu, with options to customize by choosing among multigrain, German rye, sourdough, panini, or sesame bread. We went with The Griller in multigrain bread and Monte Cristo in sourdough bread. Both sandwiches were grilled nicely and had generous fillings. The Griller was a classic grilled cheese sandwich, with the bread coated with garlic butter, and filled with a trio of swiss cheese, gouda, and cheddar, along with creamy béchamel sauce. The Monte Cristo, another classic, had grilled chicken ham, provolone, mozzarella, and lettuce.thebings2Overall, a great place to order some grub from!
