Review: BRONX Brewery & Bar Exchange

Review: BRONX Brewery & Bar Exchange

Bronx Brewery and Bar Exchange, a multi-level entertainment hub situated in Sector 29, Gurgaon, stands out in the crowd due to its sprawling space and delicious food. The restaurant is spread across four floors, each having some unique elements to it, from a private party area, to a smokers’ lounge, and a lovely terrace with a DJ console and dance floor, with customized music controls for each floor. In addition to that, they also have a bar exchange concept, with the alcohol prices fluctuating based on demand.

To start with, we were served tasting shots of their in-house brews-German Wheat, a light and smooth beer with notes of banana and clove, Premium Lager, and Dark Lager- a heavy bodied beer with a distinct flavor of roasted malt. From the mocktail section, we tried the Virgin Mojito and Guava Berry, a concoction of guava, spiced with tabasco, pepper, and chili flakes, and both were made really well.bronx3The Veg Pesto Pasta Salad was a spectacular dish- it had lettuce, bell peppers, zucchini, olives, cherry tomatoes, and fusilli pasta tossed in pesto dressing and topped with grated parmesan. The fresh pesto they had tossed the salad in was zingy and delicious, and the garlic bread they served alongside worked really well with it. This is an absolute must-have dish here!

The Baked Cheesy Veg Nachos had crunchy nachos topped with jalapenos, tomatoes, bell peppers, and kidney beans, with lots of melted cheese on top. The dish was served with salsa, sour cream, and guacamole, which were all really well made. The Hot Wings had juicy chicken winglets tossed in a spicy-sweet bbq sauce.bronx4Next, we had veg and chicken Pita Pockets. While the veg one was filled with crunchy grilled vegetables, the non-veg one was filled with grilled chicken tossed in a lovely spice mix. The pita pockets were served with pickled vegetables, hummus, tzatziki, and baba ganoush. All three dips were made in-house, and were really delicious.bronx5We also tried the Veg and Non-Veg Kebab Platters- the veg one had malai paneer tikka, degi mirch paneer tikka, stuffed tandoori mushroom, and dahi kebab, while the non-veg one had chicken tikka, murg malai tikka, fish tikka, mutton seekh kebab. The dahi kebab had a creamy texture and was stuffed with nuts, and the fish tikka was really juicy and flaky. The chicken tikka was marinated in a spicy mix, and the seekh kebab was topped with a little bit of melted cheese.bronx6The American Extravaganza Pizza had a nicely baked thin crust which was topped generously with onion, bell peppers, mushrooms, jalapeno, black olives, and corn.

The Kadhai Paneer Platter makes for a hearty meal, as it comprises kadhai paneer, dal makhani, salad, and lachcha parantha. The kadhai paneer had moist chunks of paneer coated in a thick gravy, while the dal was ruch and creamy.

The Pan Roast Chicken had juicy chicken breast served with peppercorn sauce, mashed potatoes, garlic bread and sautéed vegetables. The sauce was really flavorful, and the vegetables were cooked al dente, but the mashed potatoes could have done with a touch of lemon juice.bronx7We rounded off this meal with a really innovative dessert- Jalebi Rabri Cigar Roll, which had shot glasses filled with rabri with a cigar roll filled with jalebi filling. Since the jalebi filling was really sweet, and the rabri was lightly sweetened, it counterbalanced well to make for a really nice dessert.bronx8Overall, the place is great for any occasion- dinner with family, a nice sunny lunch with your besties, or partying the night away. And the food and service are both on point! This place is certainly recommended.

Review: Universal Doner

Review: Universal Doner

Universal Doner is a tiny little outlet located in one of CP’s bylanes, but the location does not do justice to the amazing food served there. The place serves delicious Turkish food, and though there is very little seating in the restaurant, they have a large open kitchen, where you can see your food being prepared live, and the USP of the restaurant is that everything is prepared fresh, so the meat and chicken are really juicy and moist. The doner kebabs rotating on the grill there look mouthwatering as well.ud1We went for the Fatayer or Arabic pizza, for which they rolled out the dough fresh, stuffed it with lots of cheese and tasty bits of mutton, and then baked. The resulting dish had really crispy, nicely baked bread, which was dotted with white sesame seeds for additional texture, and the stuffed cheese had melted to a nice oozy texture, and the mutton was super flavorful.ud3Next, we went for the Jumbo Mezze Platter, which is big enough for two people to share, and is a great option for those who want to try a little bit of everything from the menu. The huge platter came with chicken shish taouk, chicken adana, mutton adana, chicken and mutton mix doner, falafel, and paneer, along with toasted pita bread, salad, pickle, crispy fries, and delicious hummus and garlic mayo dip. The falafel was moist inside, and both, the shish taouk and adana were juicy, succulent, and very delicately spiced. The freshness of the meat came through in each bite. And the thinly shred pile of chicken and mutton mix was absolutely divine. And all this food was for less than 500rs, so this place is totally value for money.ud2Overall, though the place is slightly let down by the outlet itself, the food more than makes up for it. We also had a chat with the owner, who told us they have plans to expand the chain, and this outlet was opened with the purpose of getting a feel of the market. This place is a must-visit for all those who love this cuisine, and especially for meat-lovers!

Review: Tippling Street

Tippling Street promises to transport you to London, with its amazing décor and lovely ambience. Spread across two floors with a lovely outdoor section as well, this place is perfect for hanging out with friends while munching on some great food from a diverse and interesting menu.ts1The Blueberry and Pineapple Smoothie was thick, creamy, and full of that lovely blueberry flavor, and the Sunset Smash was a lovely mix of pineapple juice, orange juice, cranberry juice, grenadine, and lime, while the Energy Booster was a concoction of kiwi, lime, mint, blue curacao and red bull.ts2We started our meal with a lovely and refreshing Fattoush which was made with fresh and crunchy tomatoes, onions, spring onions, cherry tomatoes, lettuce, and small pieces of crunchy toasted Arabic flatbread all doused in a lemony garlic dressing which provided a lot of flavor to the dish.

Next, we had the Chatpata Soya Chaap which was nicely marinated, had a lovely charcoal flavor and a soft texture. The Falafel Sliders had soft buns with a spread of smooth, fresh and garlic-y hummus and falafel that was moist and flavorsome.

On the non-vegetarian side, we had the Keema Pao which had fresh bread with a lovely, spicy, juicy and flavorsome keema. They had even served some of the keema on the side, and the best part about the keema was that it was full of flavor without being over-spiced.

For main course, we went with the Mushroom Risotto, which was made with cream cheese, mushroom, white wine, Arborio rice, finished with cream.ts3We ended our meal with a Baked Yogurt, which was just lightly sweetened, had the perfect creamy texture, and was served with pistachios and chocolate sauce.ts4Overall, the food and the service were both on point, and this is a place worth multiple visits.

Review: Suchali’s Artisan Bakehouse

Suchali’s Artisan Bakehouse is famous for its delicious croissants with the perfect texture- thin, crisp, and flaky covering, while soft and buttery inside. While so far they were working on a delivery-only model, they have recently opened up their first outlet- a cute little cart positioned at Cyber Hub, bringing customers in with the enticing smell of fresh croissants.suchali1While they specialize in sweet and savory croissants in many interesting flavors such as almond, baklava, strawberry nutella in sweet, and smoked chicken ham and cheese, olive chicken salami and cheese, roasted tomatoes with mozzarella and homemade pesto sauce, spinach in béchamel sauce, and roasted peppers with smoked mozzarella in savory, along with the regular pain au chocolat and traditional butter croissant. They even have on their menu some amazing cruffins- a wonderful cross between a muffin and a croissant- in flavors like vanilla bean cream, coffee cream, dark chocolate and sea salt, and banana’s foster.suchali2I tried a couple of items from their menu- the Roasted Peppers with Smoked Mozzarella Croissant was buttery and flaky and was filled with delicious, sweet-ish roasted peppers. The Coffee Cream Cruffin had a crunchy exterior coated with sugar, while the inside was soft and cakey, filled with a flavorful home-made coffee cream.suchali3Overall, the delicious creations at this place are absolutely worth trying!
